IMS – Integrated Management System

Our Integrated Management System merges our ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems into one easy to use management system. By doing this it ensures we remain compliant whilst reducing workload, cutting duplicated or crossed over processes and refining compliance. With pre-defined processes and procedures, it enables our business to achieve best practice for quality, environmental impact and occupational health and safety.

Quality Management System

ISO 9001:2015 is the international standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS).

The standard provides a management framework to improve business practices and to provide services and products that meet – and possibly exceed – customers’ expectations.

Being certified shows that we follow best international practices and can be trusted to do business with.

A Quality Management System impacts on every process that drives the business and has as a core requirement the aim to achieve year-on-year continuous improvement.

Environmental Management System

ISO 14001:2015 is the internationally recognised standard for the environmental management of businesses, prescribing controls for those activities that have an effect on the environment.

It sets out requirements for an environmental management system, enabling organisations to put in place an environmental policy and objectives that take into account relevant legal and other requirements.

While it does not specify environmental performance criteria, it does encompass the environmental issues that the organisation can control or influence.

Certification to ISO 14001 demonstrates that our organisation is committed to have regard for environmental issues and is proactively working to minimise its impact on the environment, for example by producing less waste, in the way it treats and handles waste, in increasing energy efficiency and in its use of natural resources.

Occupational Health and Safety Management System

ISO 45001:2018 is the international standard for occupational health and safety management. This standard helps us to manage and reduce workplace risks to improve employee safety.

That we have ISO 45001 certification demonstrates that the business operates a best-practice Occupational Health and Safety Management System – reducing the likelihood of accidents and breaches of legislation, as well as improving the Organisation’s overall performance.

This Standard surpasses many existing health and safety standards because it was developed by a committee of occupational health and safety experts.

It takes into account other international standards in this area such as the International Labour Organization’s ILO-OSH Guidelines, various national standards and the ILO’s international labour standards and conventions.

This makes it the most valuable Health and Safety Management System available to date.

The Registered Safety Supplier Scheme

Anyone can sell Safety…but you wouldn’t buy Safety from just Anyone

BSIF has created the Registered Safety Supplier scheme to improve the quality of protection offered to users of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) throughout the UK. The need for the scheme is due to the non-compliant, potentially unsafe, counterfeit and illegal safety products that are present in the market place.

The Mission of the scheme is to provide assurance to users that only compliant and correctly performing products are being supplied through a capable, educated, competent supply chain. The scheme provides a recognized route to enable a member to demonstrate compliance with due diligence.

The RSSS provides a quality assurance scheme for the purchase of genuine PPE that ensures the products are up to standard.

Manufacturers and Distributors who have signed up to the scheme will:

  • Formally declare and commit to selling only Certified PPE and safety products that perform to claims made
  • Submit their products to random independent scheme testing
  • Commit to having their customer facing staff educated and accredited in the Safe Supply Course
  • Maintain a company Quality Policy

The Registered Safety Suppliers commitment is that the PPE you purchase will do the job it is intended for and will keep you safe as it should do. Procurement departments will save time and money by selecting reliable and compliant RSSS members for all their PPE/Safety Needs.

RISQS – Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme

Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme (RISQS) is recognised by the rail industry as the most effective means of deriving assurance and managing supply chain risk. It gives the industry’s 90-plus buyer members the assurance to do business with confidence with 4,000 supplier members. Since 2018 we have been run entirely for the benefit of the railway and its supply chain, cutting prices to a competitive level. We have stakeholders, not shareholders. RISQS is:

  • Designed with industry involvement
  • Overseen by independent industry figures
  • Built for rail from the ground up
  • Our new benchmarking tool lets suppliers see how they compare to their peers. And innovations make RISQS simpler and more efficient to use, like our API that plugs into buyers’ purchasing systems.

We help suppliers succeed, by providing a fair and transparent way for them to be recognised as capable providers of products and services. We help buyers succeed, by connecting them with the widest range of high quality suppliers – checked, benchmarked and assured.

Buyers can use the RISQS platform to shortlist for contracts without any further calls for competition – and we can help you comply with the Utilities Contract Regulations.
